How To Tweak For A Valid IMEI To Get Internet Bundle

Updated: 4th March, 2017

This tutorial is to teach how to tweak your IMEI for internet bundle on your MTK devices like Infinix, Tecno, ZTE etc. Now lets clear this question: “How come you get the bundle by tweaking your IMEI?”.

Answer: Some phones come in with some data package when  you buy it from either MTN, Vodafone, Tigo etc. For instance, say if you buy Samsung Galaxy Young 2 from MTN Office, they give you 2GB worth of data. All you got is to get a valid IMEI number of Samsung Galaxy Young 2 and tweak it.

I believe if it must be known, it must be known well. If you think I’m going to teach you the easiest way to get a valid IMEI, quit reading because this isn’t recommended for the lazy ones. I’m teaching you the concepts behind its generation.

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It is a number that is unique to identify mobile phones, modems etc. The numbers are used by GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing that network. These numbers are usually 15 digits and others too have got 14 digits as well.

Steps to Get the Data Bundle – the real DEAL (Requirements)

MTK device (a phone with mediatek support)
It can be rooted or non-rooted

Download MTK engineering plus or MTK engineering tool
Download IMEI analyzer or bulk IMEI generator

Every IMEI number is unique in its own way that it is used to lock and to unlock devices (phones, modems) to a network provider. Every mobile phone, GSM modem or device with a built-in phone / modem has a unique 15 digit IMEI number. Based on this number, you can check some information about the device, e.g brand or model.

The last number of it is a check digit. The Check Digit is calculated according to Luhn Algorithm.  Hans Peter Luhn was a German Computer Scientist who invented this algorithm in 1954. His algorithm calculates simple checksum formula used to validate identification numbers such as IMEIs, credit card numbers etc.

The Check Digit is a function of all other digits in the IMEI. The purpose of the Check Digit is to help guard against the possibility of incorrect entries to the CEIR and EIR equipment. The steps are:

  1. Enter the first 14 digits from a valid IMEI number (Dial *06# for the IMEI number on every phone).
  2. From the rightmost digit, which is the check digit, moving left, double the value of every second digit.
  3. Add any double numbers.
  4. Sum all the digits.
  5. Add any number to the total sum that will make it divisible by 10.

For example:

Well since Ghana is 60 Years old in the next two days, I have a surprise for y’all (virgin IMEI) :

You can tweak around the IMEI provided above. Good luck MY READERS!

Leave the last digit of the IMEI you want to tweak and calculate it.

Therefore 8 is the Luhn Digit of the number. All IMEIs of every device manufacturers has been integrated into IMEI.INFO. Try inputting the number into the website to see if its valid or not.

1. After getting a valid number, open your MTK Engineering Mode Start and tap on MTK Settings.
2. Swipe to Connectivity on the right and tap on CDS Information and then choose Radio Information.
3. Tap on Phone 1. You will see AT+.

4. Bring space and add EGMR=1,7,”Your Generated IMEI.

5. Touch on SEND AT COMMAND. Reboot your phone or put it in flight mode and then back to normal.
6. After tweaking, send
 MB to 151 on MTN
AP or DM to 454 on Tigo
 Dial *179# on Vodafone
 Dial *909# on Airtel
 Expresso ———
